Welcome to my webpage, and thank you for taking a moment to learn more about me. I'm Joe Pires, a proud resident of the Southcoast and your neighbor. I am thrilled to share with you my journey and the path that has led me to run for Massachusetts State Representative in the 10th Bristol District.

My story begins in New Bedford, where I was born to immigrant parents from Cape Verde, making me the first in my family to be born in the United States. Raised by a single parent, my upbringing was grounded in resilience, hard work, and the importance of community—a foundation that has shaped the person I am today.

​

Education has played a pivotal role in my life. From my early days at St. James St. John Catholic School to furthering my education at New England Institute of Technology, Boston University, and Emerson College, achieving a degree and certifications in Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, and Mass Communication. These experiences equipped me with a diverse skill set and a broad perspective on the challenges and opportunities we face as a society.

Professionally, I started my career at Polaroid Corporation, focusing on process control instrumentation/automation, before venturing into information technology. For nearly two decades, I have been a managing partner at Pioneer Basement and Grate Products, a family-run business that has taught me the value of leadership, innovation, and community service.

​

Family is the cornerstone of my life. I am a devoted husband and father to three wonderful children. My role as a parent has deepened my commitment to our community, whether it's through coaching baseball, practicing martial arts, or serving on the school committee for Old Rochester Regional for more than three terms. Additionally, my involvement with Club SS Sacramento in New Bedford and as a sponsor of the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament has allowed me to give back and stay connected to our rich cultural heritage.

As I step into the political arena, my vision for the 10th Bristol District is clear. I am determined to tackle the challenges we face—from improving our standard of living and addressing increased taxes and fees, to ensuring that the needs of our citizens always come first. As a moderate Republican, I believe in the power of collaboration and bipartisanship to create solutions that uplift every member of our community.
